Another Long Weekend

 Grade 12s, please give yourself a mark for your essay (email me or I can take it Monday).
The rubric attached to your essay is just for the writing alone, but an English teacher marks holistically, that means I take all things into consideration when I assign a mark. Thus, please consider the following in your mark out of /60.

Did you use a school database?
Did you use at least three sources?
Did you include your peer feedback sheet, your signed assignment sheet, and your 6 point rubric?
Did you do in-text citation correctly?
Did you hand it in on time?
Did you try to include effective transitions and a lead?
Was your paper purely expository or did you have a persuasive angle?
And did you go over 1000 words or were you well below?
(Most of you stuck to 12 font, Times New Roman, so let's not worry about this one.)

Read over your essay again, with my comments in and at the end of the essay, please.

Lastly, don't forget to complete the chapter 3 questions for MC

Grade 11s: You should be working on your poems due Tuesday.

You will hand in your journal for short stories (+ the one question about group work) tomorrow so please ensure you entries are up to date.

Poetic Reign

Three tests are done; no more remain,
you're doing a good job of staying sane.
Day by day you're striving to maintain,
the mental gymnastics for which you train.

and you wouldn't be human if you didn't complain.
But, hey, at least for today it did not rain!
Take care of each other: there's no 'stay in your lane',
otherwise, the grind, the hustle, is all in vain.

And read about Winston, whom we last left in pain,
Chapter one plus questions, there I've said it plain. 

Plus, keep Lewis's arguments straight in your brain.

Each point builds on the last like a strong link-chain.

His analogies are deeper than Aslan's mane.

We'll review them all tomorrow so for the quiz you don't strain.

You'll kill it like Macduff did that evil Scottish Thane. 

I'd end the poem there but then, it'd be short a quatrain.

You've got a test tomorrow on Of Mice and Men,

Bring paper, your textbook, and a blue or black pen.

I'm fresh outta rhymes since I just did more than ten,

I'll get back in the poem game when I'm feeling more Zen.
