Nope, I was wrong!

 English 10

Hello, you are reading up to page 30 (stopping at enter Portia). At the start of Act 2, you will see Brutus struggling with the choice to join the conspirators. He does. Then they come in to his house and collectively decide how they will proceed with the assassination and who else, if anybody, to kill.

Please complete the questions that accompany this part of the reading: Act II, scene i, #1-14. I know these seem like a lot but we will definitely review tomorrow. (Marble, anyone?)

I gave a handout in class today which asks you to paraphrase Brutus' soliloquy. DO NOT complete this as not all students have access to it.

Those of you who were absent will have to catch up on today's free write tomorrow (take a pic) and we still need to hear about the Islamic calendar.

The pretrial is in its last day tomorrow. All students are to come in appropriate costume for Monday's trial. You have permission to be 'in character' all day on Monday if you wish. Press (court reporters), why not make a hat that says press to help you look the part like this (I have the hats if you make the signs).

Hope you get some sun tonight, students! Vitamin D!

More Sun? That's fun!

 Hello Tens,

Your homework for tonight is to find some fun facts about your specific calendar. As a group you will share your points. We will listen intently...these will then become fun bonus questions for future quizzes.

That's all.

Hello Elevens,

We are still gathering evidence for the trial. Work at home as needed. Trial begins on Monday.

English 11 Only

 Roles for Today:

Defense/ Prosecution: You are creating your opening statements. You will attempt to prove what to your jury? You will paint the character of Jack to be what kind of person?

What will we expect to hear from your side of the story?

Witness for Defense/ Prosecution: While the lawyers are busy preparing their sides of the argument. You can help. Create a set of questions the lawyers could ask you. Find Q & A that are supported from the book. The lawyers will get these questions and select which ones will help their cause.

Jury: You are at ease for right now. But when the trial begins you are to take notes on all the evidence you hear. You will then be sequestered to the Jury Room to deliberate whether you vote guilty or innocent for EACH  charge. Did the lawyers present enough evidence either way to sway your verdict beyond a reasonable doubt.

Expert Witnesses: Connect with your lawyers and draft statements for your side. Research any evidence on findings that would support your side. Help the lawyers create questions they could ask you, and have answers ready. Your lawyers will decide which questions to use.

Court Reporters: When a sensational case is about to be heard, reporters will publish an article about the tenor of the crowds outside or write about what we know so far. Together, write a newspaper article about the story. Something that gives background and context. Consider including some people outside the courthouse who give statements. Something like: The mother of the accused, Jack, was seen wiping her tears outside the courtroom. We asked her for a statement on her son’s charges to which she replied, “My Jacky is a good boy. A bit of a temper at times but he would never hurt a fly. I think those boys are just jealous of my son.” Others around the courtroom hold up picket signs reading “Cut his throat, Spill his blood. Justice for Piggy.” This courtroom looks like its going to be packed with lots of interested parties.  See article in the news today for a court case
