Week One Down

No poem tonight,

no rhyming delight.

Just read the story your group's been assigned.

Cuz on Monday you won't be able to hit 'rewind'.

You rocked English 11 today!

It's time to start reading our third little story.
In it the narrator's brother gets all of the glory.
There may be some parallels to the Prodigal Son
Make a note if you see them, but there could be none.
I should, of course, mention this one's "The Charmer"
and, in a way, the brother builds up the narrator's armour.
Complete the work that is asked of you in question no. one,
That's sentences two, three, and four, and then you are done.

Boys and Girls, Ladies and Gents, "Guys and Dolls"

Tonight you're finishing a story about 'coming-of-age',
Continue reading "Boys and Girls" on the fiftieth page.
We'll look at whether stereotypes could really be true,
The narrator will find something about herself that's new.
And don't forget your paragraph--fix that up real nice,
Just correcting tiny typos, will simply not suffice.

The Bell Went, But the Class Wasn't Spent

Tonight you've got to describe somebody in a paragraph,
Include descriptions so clear they look like a photograph.
Notice that simile? You'll need five to seven in it,
Write a page (double spaced) --take more than a minute!
But before that have another look at our first short story,
And take note of every simile in all of its glory.

I Blogged. I Googled. Turns out I'm a Blogger!

English 11, Let's Go!!

In terms of your homework, it's just a plain fact,
Memorize this blog, it will usually be packed
with assignments, due dates and also some readings,
but they'll contribute to our classroom talks and meetings.
Now listen up D block, don't ask for a 'classroom' code,
I guess I'll be that teacher on the less-travelled road.
No online submissions, just some paper and printer ink
and I ain't mad at written work, I told you: helps you think.
Welcome to Loconte's blog, I don't usually forget to post,
but in the event that I do, ask a peer you text the most.
