Kind of a Vanilla Thursday

Back from a break, let's try this rhyming thing again,
I had writer's block yesterday: nothing in the pen.

To the students in D block, read story 'Brother Dear'
I won't be in class, but will listen through the sub's ear.
Have a good discussion, you'll be led by a capable team,
Stay quiet to get to speech writing & I won't allow that scheme.

To my 11s in C block, you'll finish watching Obama's speeches
The way he delivers his message is how a good pastor preaches.
Discuss which techniques he uses to make his words effective,
Don't copy his style outright, but it does make a good directive.
You too will have time when finished, to get to your identity talk,
After the video's finished you'll have like, 30 minutes on the clock.

Hey! I pushed through the struggle of not being able to rhyme,
Guess the lesson here is when you have to write- give it time!

Let's just call it free verse : )

We may have time to get into Brother, Dear. 
Read it tonight would be my suggestion.
It'll definitely be a topic of discussion for Friday.
Also C block, we will be having class in Friesen's room.

The sun was out....ALL day!!

The power of words is the next topic of focus
You've got to write out a speech to deliver to us.
It's not due right away but let it sit on your brain
If you don't do it now, at the end it'll be a strain.
But as for tonight your homework is simply to read:
a story called Keesh, about a boy who would lead.

Time for the Homework Update

After many days off, it's back to the grind,
Start writing your poem, apply your mind.
Talk about stereotypes, and address the ones to you,
By Tuesday's class, you need to be halfway through
