It's Kinda Like Thursday

Tonight you are reading Sunday in the Park:
the contrast in parenting is really quite stark.
It would be nice to drop a marble in the jar,
So be the good students I know you all are!

Forgotten Homework Leads to Plain Text Blog

Hello Students:

Your papers where you write for the "Knoxian Times" are DUE TOMORROW!
Please complete a ten minute timed response on the following:

Family values may shift over time. As parents raise children, they decide which values they want to instill in their children. Sometimes, these values may not even be completely shared between both parents.

Which values to you see implicitly and explicitly being taught to you in your own family? Explain.

Poetry + Creative Writing + Stories = English class

Good news for the overworked student in my class,
For your final draft assignment I am giving you a pass,
No, you don't have to forget about it forever and ever:
I'm giving you one more day to make it extra clever.
It's due on Wednesday. I can already sense your elation.
No need to thank me, just give me a standing ovation.
I'm joking, I'm kidding, I jest; it's fine!
But don't think this happens every time you whine.
So the one thing for tomorrow that you've got to complete,
Is a (baseball)Cap for Steve, you can read it while you eat.

FLY-day!!!

Friday is here, and, really, few things are better!
The education system releases you from its 5 day fetter.
You are free to make merry how ever you see fit,
And soak up every ounce of freedom, every last bit!
But don't get too excited, you've got to write for the news,
based on a story we've read, but which one? You choose.
Come in Monday ready to work on your rough draft,
We'll spend some time trying to perfect this craft.
Tuesday: "Cap for Steve" group will show us what they thought
And hopefully we'll be impressed with the way that they've taught.

#TBT

If you've got some newspaper, bring them to class,
Can't find some no worries, I'll spend a little cash.
We'll work toward writing about the stories we've read,
but first I have to teach you to have journalism 'cred'.
Don't forget to create 5 questions that create conversation,
Because thinking critically is the goal of liberal education.

The Day the Teacher Gave no HW

If you're looking for homework you've come to the wrong place,
In my benevolent goodness, I've given you one day's grace.

Uniformed Visitors Entered our Gates: All Hail, STMers!

For better or worse technology is here,
Does it enliven or deaden our atmosphere?
The story tonight provides an ominous prediction,
Being thoughtfully alone is a strange predilection.
The Pedestrian by Bradbury is pretty fantastic,
Don't treat your freedoms like disposable plastic.
But I won't give you spoilers, that's not a teacher's norm.
Just read it and answer 'one-ay'. Responses in point form.
